Organizers of the Relay for Life of Greene County hope to rally hundreds of area residents next Saturday to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s efforts to provide patient and caregiver support, advocacy and education, and funding for research.
A Color Out Cancer 5K run/walk, team fundraisers, and several fundraisers the day of the Relay provide opportunities for folks nearby to contribute to the effort. Dedicating luminarias is an easy way for people who don’t live nearby and/or can’t be at the relay to help. The luminarias, dedicated to cancer survivors and those who have lost the battle against cancer, will decorate the elevated walking track at the Greene County Community Center during the relay.
There is still time to request a luminaria. Click on the link here for an order form: https://greenecountynewsonline.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/RFL-Luminaria-Order.pdf Mail it to the address at the bottom, along with a $10 donation, and luminaria chair Shirley Stapleton and her committee will do the rest.
